Ask me... [Edit 2]

Thu Jan 7, 2010, 9:45 PM
  • Mood: Obsessed
  • Reading: Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
  • Watching: South Park
  • Drinking: Tea
Shamelessly ripped from ~Beveee! Made a few edits.

Name a character of mine and I'll tell you:

1. How I thought of their name.
2. What made me create that character in the first place.
3. How the character has changed over time (If they changed at all).
4. Any random fun fact about that character.

Go on, get askin'. Ask about whoever you want. :iconbummiesplz: I'll make edits to the journal as I write up the answers.

Edit: HERE YOU GO.
Edit 2: Added Simon to the bottom. GO ON GUYS, ASK MORE. NO OC SHALL BE DENIED.

Anne August:
1. I took a quiz on Facebook about what my name should have been, and it came up "Anne." Since then, I always liked the name, and after I created Anne, I used it. "August," well, can you guess what month I created her in?

2. I got the idea for a detective in a fantasy world. It seemed original to me at the time. I needed a detective, and so, Anne was born. I made her young because, I figured, I'm around her age, so I can write her more believably.

3. Personality is more or less the same, but most obviously, I've changed up her outfit for the next story. I plan on doing that for each story.

4. She's had Ember ever since she was little. He was a gift from somebody dear to her.

Detective Daniel Alter:
1. Ripped both parts of his name from a Newsweek magazine.

2. Anne needed an official detective counterpart. Simple as that.

3. Um... his hair style changed a wee bit. Personality-wise, he's gotten a little more patient and more trusting after the first story.

4. He's divorced.

Miles:
1. Rearranged the letters in "Smile." Actually, I think ~MariettaRC may have come up with it.

2. Nothing! I doodled a random little jerk, and it turned out to be Miles.

3. I started drawing him with eyebrows. I also removed the obnoxious "SMILE" and smiley face from his clothing. He's gotten a lot more mature, too, at least in my own head.

4. He has a crush on someone.

Ezihan:
1. Got it from a name generator site. :XD:

2. I wanted an evil dude. He's actually just a rehash of an old villain I created a few years ago.

3. I developed his personality more, and I change up his robe slightly from time to time.

4. He was married at some point in his life. Did I just blow your mind?

Owen:
1. Popped into my head.

2. I figured that Ezihan needed more pawns, so... simple as that. I chose spider because spiders terrify me.

3. He hasn't really changed at all. Still just a mindless killing machine.

4. He's a failed experiment because of how utterly mindless he is. Seriously, Ezihan can't even use him because he'd just maul whoever was around, friend or foe. At least Miles shows some discretion!

Routhel:
1. That's a secret. Although, I'm considering changing it if I ever get around to rewriting the story...

2. Elias needed a partner. :P

3. When I first created him, he was nothing more than an expendable generic jerk. That changed. His outfit has changed slightly, but appearance has been basically the same.

4. Routhel is not his name.

Simon Walls:
1. ... you know, I forgot. Might've been from a book or TV show. Last name was the result of me listening to the Serj Tankian song "Empty Walls." Derr herr.

2. I thought of a little story idea and created him for the protagonist role. Nothing too remarkable about that.

3. Not at all, he's still too new. :XD:

4. He can grow a marvelous beard. (Lame, I know, but I couldn't think of anything else.)

Any others? :la:

Resolutions

So. 2010. Inspired by a friend's journal, here are some resolute resolutions.

I used to make resolutions when I was younger, for fun. I wish someone would have slapped me and said, "You're 12, you're fine, save it for when you're older."

Because now I'm older (by a bit) and resolutions actually mean something. I remember an old resolution I had when I was 12. "Stop watching Adult Swim." Because I thought it was bad for me. (Yeah, that didn't last long.) So here are some actual resolutions I intend to keep:

I. Write at least one-thousand words every day. I almost do this now, but I skip so many days.

II. Read from a book every day. As much as I love reading, I can be a major lazy-ass when it comes to actually doing it.

III. Draw at least once a week.

IV. Mindlessly browse the internet less.

V. Drink less coffee... actually, I'll save that for 2011. Practice driving more. Yes, that's better.

VI. Learn to be less afraid of overhead planes and police sirens. (You laugh, but they frighten me.)

In short: read and write every day. Draw occasionally. Be less of a lazy-ass. Be more mature.

I'm coming for you, 2010. I'm prepared.

:salute:

How about you, friends?

It's Christmas!

  • Mood: Christmas Spirited

  • Reading: A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens
For some of you! It's still Christmas Eve here, but I'll write this journal anyway.

I don't have much to say, really -- I'm getting a ton of books and a Flip camcorder* for Christmas, which is wonderful, so I'm looking forward to opening presents. It's tradition to open a present on Christmas Eve here, so I chose A Christmas Carol. Looking forward to reading it. :D

What are you guys doing for Christmas? I hope none of you are lonely... remember to stay happy.

One last thing: I meant to draw a dozen friends some free sketches of their OCs, but Christmas snuck up on me and I was unable to finish them all. :faint: So, here's the deal. All of my watchers (at the time of writing this) are free to make one request to me, and I'll get to them when I'm less busy. :D (To those who are waiting on requests already, you are free to make a second request - I'll draw them both.)

I'm so sorry for lack of gift drawings, so I hope this makes up for it... a little bit... I never have been good with presents.

Once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone! Even if you don't celebrate it. Have a nice and safe day! LOVE YOU GUYS.

*Yes, I'm getting a ~iamflip for Christmas! WHOO!

Let me steal your names.

Tue Dec 1, 2009, 7:58 PM
  • Mood: Zeal
  • Listening to: I'm Your Moon - Jonathan Coulton
  • Reading: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - Dame Agatha Christie
  • Eating: Mints
I'm working on my second Anne August story, and I need a few names to use for minor characters. Some might appear once, or will just be offhandedly mentioned, but names are needed. Just wondering if anyone would like their name to be used. Or if you aren't comfortable with that, your username and/or character names. They have to sound real and be in English, though. (Nothing made up, like "Kiazakia Hamsahburger." Please.)

Mostly, I need names for police officers and civilians. Full disclaimer: I cannot guarantee the safety of the person who has your name. Also, they might be jerks, or really nice. It depends.

I can't say I'll use every name, but at this moment, I know I need at least two or three. I could make some up... but hey, this is a way of connecting with you awesome people who read my stuff. I LOVE YOU ALL. :la: (Besides, I've already made up a bunch for something else and I'm sick and tired of finding names.)

tl;dr: Want your name, username or character name in my story and don't care if you're killed off or act like a jerk? Tell me here! :dummy: Both fems and mens needed.

Also, no royalties if Neil Gaiman flies through my window on a unicorn and gets it published for me. That has happened before, right?

P.S. HAPPY DECEMBER.
